About Ujang Mormin

Ujang Mormin, 100, died on at Hospital Sungai Buloh on Feb 9, 2021. The Negri Sembilan native fought alongside Leftenan Adnan Saidi in the historic 1942 Battle of of Pasir Panjang against the Japanese invaders, in Singapore. He served as an army private with the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, after joining the British Army in 1939. He was one of a handful from his regiment to survive the Battle of Pasir Panjang. Condolences poured for him from the government, armed forces and the King.
