About Zeawdeen Kadar Masdan
Zeawdeen Kadar Masdar was an Indian national who died in the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot on June 12, 2020. His family said he was a tourist in Kuala Lumpur, who was stranded when his return flight on March 20 to Chennai was cancelled. Visa documents showed he entered the country on a multiple entry visa March 17, the day before the movement control order was imposed. He was picked up by Immigration during an operation at the Malaya Mansion, where a Covid-19 outbreak took place. He had traveled with his son Jamaludeen Zeawdeen, who was also detained at the Bukit Jalil depot but later released. Zeawdeen was found to have collapsed in his cell, rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

I'm so sorry. This sounds like an injustice. I wish we (Malaysia) had done better. I hope that your son is OK. Rest in peace.Lisa
Dear Zeawdeen, you deserved so much better. I hope you lead a meaningful life and was loved by those who mattered. I pray that you are in a much better place than the days leading up to your passing. Zeawdeen, today we say your name. You are not forgotten. Rest in peace. Al-fatihah.
