About Balu Perumal

Balu Perumal, 54, died on Aug 6, 2021. The environmentalist was the head of conservation at the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) and had more than 30 years experience in natual resource management in Malaysia and the ASEAN region. MNS president Ahmad Aismail told Free Malaysia Today that Balu contributed to various conservation projects, including educating the public on wildlife protection and working with local communities. He is rememberd by colleagues as a calm and collected person who dedicated his life to conservation, but would always find time for his children. "We will always remember him as a wonderful man, who has been a great team player/ colleague/ mentor/ teacher whose passionate about his job with much love to nature," MNS said.
